No sooner did the 2020 New York Metro Super Lawyers and Rising Stars awards come out than the instructions for the 2021 process were sent to law firms.

I wanted to make sure that firms of all sizes had this information – especially the small- and mid-size firms that may not be on Super Lawyers’ email list.

Below are key dates for the 2021 New York Metro Super Lawyers and Rising Stars process.

Also, your marketing person or someone who is designated from the firm as the point person with Super Lawyers should contact them (this is their main email for any research or password requests) to gain access to your Super Lawyers’ Firm Management Tool so you can view all of your past rankings, upload future rankings, purchase badges and update profiles. The tool also allows you to quickly and easily update information or complete data verification for the attorneys at your firm.

Attorneys in your firm will receive an email to nominate their peers, provide a link to their professional biography at your firm’s website, and update their practice information with a personalized link to SuperLawyers.com. If any lawyers in your firm do not receive the email, simply point them to SuperLawyers.com and they can log on to the portal.

New for 2021 – Attorneys can review saved nominations, edit and add names at any time of the year!

Here are some key dates for the 2021 New York Metro Super Lawyers and Rising Stars submission cycle.

  • 11/17/20: Managing partners are invited, via email, to nominate up to 10 percent of the lawyers in their office. It’s important to encourage your managing partner to respond so the lawyers in your firm are given proper consideration to New York Metro Super Lawyers.
  • 1/5/21: The nomination process for the current year ends.
  • 3/26/21: Notifications are sent to lawyers who have been selected for inclusion on the list. If Super Lawyers has selected attorneys from your firm, you will be sent a list.
  • 7/15/21: Data verification is due. Selected attorneys (or their authorized assistants) are required to verify their information on SuperLawyers.com in order to be listed in the print publication(s). It is very important to note that only those who verify their data will be listed in print publications.

Although these dates and this process is for the New York area, the process is the same for each state, the timing is just a bit different in terms of when the research is conducted and when the rankings come out. Emails with information like this are going out state by state, so make sure to check your inbox and if you don’t hear from Super Lawyers, you can email them here.

Please reach out to me with any questions about the Super Lawyers process in any state or if you need help managing it.

Also, remember that to me, you’re all super lawyers.
