It’s not easy to work full time and build your own personal brand, but it’s a must today.

Why? Well, because everyone is googling you for starters. Because you likely won’t stay at your current job for your entire career or even 5-10 years. Because valuable speaking and writing opportunities can come from it. And because people often don’t do business with companies. They do business with people they like.

There are many media, modes and methods from which to choose. Having a personal brand doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be an author or launch a course. You don’t need to even become a speaker if these things don’t appeal to you.

While you can do each of these things, a personal brand can be as simple as driving awareness to something you love or already do every day.

A personal brand is meant to amplify and illustrate your passion and what you want to be doing. When the problem you’re looking to solve becomes really clear, everything else will line up.

In order to build a strong personal brand you simply have to make time for it. It’s so easy to get bogged down by work every day but don’t  – make time for you too – this is your future and your reputation.

Aim to work for a company that understands the importance of social media and will support you in your efforts to build your own brand as you support theirs.
