Here are a few things about LinkedIn that you may not know that lead to your posts not doing as well as you would have liked. Or you may wonder why some posts get 50 likes and others get three likes and you feel that the content was great in both.

It takes some time to learn what works and why, and it’s well worth your time to do so because LinkedIn is a powerful branding, lead generation and networking tool.

  1. Don’t assume that your connections see all your posts. When you post an update, it appears in the feeds of select contacts for a few hours to test out their reactions to it. If there is little to no engagement with your content, it won’t go much further than that.
  2. There is a difference in post reactions. This may initially seem superficial, but the more reactions and comments you receive on your post, the more people it will reach. However, not all engagement is created equal. Because a comment takes a bit more effort than a reaction, it will go further in increasing the reach of your post.
  3. Post engaging content regularly. Building a brand on LinkedIn requires a consistent effort. Not only does posting content on a regular basis help you to stay on the top of mind with your connections, but LinkedIn’s algorithm rewards those who consistently post high-quality content.

What have you found that works (or doesn’t work) when it comes to successful posts on LinkedIn?
