When it comes to your own professional growth, are you taking chances on things that will help build your own brand and business? Are you saying yes to things that push you out of your comfort zone?

Are you watching your colleagues and peers garner press coverage and visibility as a result of things you wish you were doing too?

Are you worried about posting on social media because you think no one will like your posts?

Do you wish you were more comfortable with public speaking so you could offer webinars and accept invites to speak at conferences?

Visibility is your responsibility. If you don’t put yourself out there and market yourself (both internally and externally) somebody else will.

Somebody else who is not as good at what you do. Somebody who is a competitor of yours.

Don’t sit back and watch them garner press coverage, conference speaking opportunities, awards and most importantly, new clients.

You can be the best at what you do, but if you don’t actually market yourself, you are not reaching your full potential. Especially when so many people are going online to find legal services and other business services.

Marketing helps us stay top of mind with the people who can refer us work and hire us. Staying top of mind is often why someone will reach out to you. So your goal is to stay top of mind with the people who matter the most and by doing things you like to do that have ROI, because you will do them better.

If you don’t like to write, don’t write. If you would prefer to speak at conferences, speak at conferences. But commit to doing something because it’s an investment in you!

The thing is if you don’t put yourself there, you won’t know the great results of these opportunities.

In fact so many great things CAN happen if you do something out of your comfort zone such as writing an article, public speaking, starting a side business or creating a social media strategy.

And you know what? You ARE ready.

So try something new and different. What’s the worst that can happen? You may be pleasantly surprised.

No risk, no reward. Courage often comes before confidence.

And if not you, then it will be someone else – why shouldn’t it be YOU?

Stop overthinking. Quit worrying about the details. Just say yes – you can figure it out later. Be your own cheerleader. 🙌🏻
