As the Director of Marketing for the largest CPA firm in Albany, Teal, Becker and Chiaramonte CPAs, Ali Anechiarico oversees and implements all marketing initiatives designed to grow the TBC brand and expand the reach of the firm’s portfolio of accounting, tax and advisory services.
Prior to joining TBC, Ali oversaw all marketing initiatives for a leading intellectual property law firm in Albany. She has extensive experience with professional services marketing including event planning, email marketing, advertising, branding and business development.
Ali has volunteered for many organizations and is currently President-Elect for the American Marketing Association Capital Region and on the Advisory Committee for CPAmerica.
Ali and I met several years ago through the Legal Marketing Association. She was part of the Upstate NY chapter and let’s just say there weren’t many people in it so she was looking for more people to engage with and more people to bounce ideas off of especially since she was a solo marketer. We immediately hit it off, and I was so happy to be a mentor of sorts to her. We were able to finally meet in person at a local event in New York City and then spent more time together at an LMA National Conference. I’m so glad our paths crossed.
Why did you choose your profession?
I think marketing chose me! Every position I had held up until an actual Marketer always involved Marketing somehow. I loved to speak with people, connect people, and promote what I believed in. I am very passionate about marketing and it was just an easy transition to focus into a full-time marketing career.
Do you have a mentor?
I have had many mentors. As in life, sometimes people come and go. There have been some wonderful men and women that I have looked up too and have helped me guide my way as I was growing in my career and currently. Professionals that are very generous with their time just to see others grow and excel. I have a fantastic tribe in and out of the workplace!
Any advice to young women who want to succeed in the workplace?
Be you! Do not be afraid to ask questions and speak up. Even though an idea may seem farfetched and different, it is ok. We need different! It doesn’t matter if you are an assistant or a director. Everyone can contribute to a team! Make sure you keep your mind open and you are ready to learn. Take notes, those who you are learning from have been where you are! You never know what the future holds and who you are going to meet. Chase your dreams, the sky is the limit!
What do you wish you could tell your younger self?
You will continuously be stepping out of your comfort zone. That’s how you will keep learning and growing. You can’t be the best at everything and not everyone will like you. Go with the flow and don’t let anyone intimidate you. You will make mistakes and that is ok. Always do your best and show your value.
Which woman most inspires you and why?
My mom! She has always been such an independent hard worker. She showed me from a young age that a woman can do anything. My mom would take on many projects and always offer help to others. She would help you learn and would never fault you for doing something wrong or making a mistake. She let me be an individual and helped guide me to make the right decisions as a young adult. I would not be where I am today without the love and support of my mom. She is my daily inspiration, and I still strive to make her proud.
What do you think is the key for success in a role like yours?
In marketing we need to be creative on a daily basis. Always thinking of ideas and ways to grow the business and the people in the business. It is my job to help others market their services and grow their careers. It is a selfless role where you have to lead by example and carry yourself in a very professional manner but able to let loose and have fun. People need to be able to relate to you. Find the best in everyone and accept people for their differences. We are all in it together.
What is a surprising/fun fact about you?
I have a 7-year-old daughter, and we love to watch Syracuse Basketball and Buffalo Bills football!
