I am so excited to feature the next woman who wows – Purvi Sanghvi – because I have worked with her directly and know she is truly a trailblazer, an advocate for other women, a leader in her field and all-around awesome person.

Purvi is the Director of Strategic Pricing at global law firm Paul Hastings. She is responsible for creating the platform upon which pricing strategies are implemented across the firm globally. Her team oversees pricing management, develops and analyzes alternative fee arrangements, and creates budgets for complex client matters.

She is responsible for pricing strategies for the firm’s top clients, often interacting with them directly as another face of the relationship. In all of these responsibilities, she works closely with firm clients and partners to develop innovative, efficient and results-oriented solutions.

Purvi has been involved in the creation of law firm pricing strategies since 2007 and has been on the forefront of shaping how they service the legal industry.

She is a founder and board member of the Legal Value Network and a board member and fellow of the College of Law Practice Management.

Why did you choose your profession?

It kind of chose me. I fell into this space in the early 2000’s – before it even had a name. Through my networking efforts I met someone that allowed me the space and creativity to start creating a valued team within the law firm. I then realized I had a knack for working with internal customers (our partners) and external customers (firm clients) and forging bonds to help bolster the business side of the law firm-client relationship.

What do you love most about what you do?

The opportunity to educate and add value to the people I serve. I also really enjoy talent development, mentoring and teaching my direct reports.

What do you wish you could tell your younger self?

Have more fun. Take more risks. And travel more.

How do you achieve work/life balance?

It’s an evolution of coming to a balance. Time blocking my calendar has been a key to my success in being able to manage the many things in which I’m involved.

What do you think is the key for success in a role like yours?

I seek to add value to every conversation I have with those that I service.

What advice would you give to women in your field?

Often times the ideas you come up with haven’t been thought of yet. Don’t be your own roadblock. Bring up suggestions and ideas and push the limit. Don’t tell yourself ‘No.’

How has the pandemic changed you?

It’s nice in that it forced me to slow down. And spend time investing in myself – I work out every morning at 6:30am now because of the habits I formed during COVID.

What is a surprising/fun fact about you?

I have run three half marathons, three 15Ks and a few 10Ks in the last 10 years – and I was never an athlete growing up.
