Are you living a checkthe-box life? Do you feel like you’re languishing on a hamster wheel?
By this age I was supposed to be a CMO. Gotten married. Had kids. Bought a house. Written a book. Had a few more zeroes in my bank account.
I didn’t do any of those.
Life rarely goes according to the plan we had when we were just setting out on our adult lives. And I’m perfectly okay with that.
Let’s stop living our lives according to what society says we “should” be doing and instead do what makes us happy.
Or just learn to go with the flow of life and realize that just because people have achieved certain things by a certain age doesn’t mean that you won’t.
It’s never too late and you’re never too old. (Keep repeating that until you believe it!)
Money, money, money. It’s what keeps us all going, isn’t it? But does it really make you happy?
If you want to live life on your own terms, you have to stop thinking of your worth in terms of how much you make.
If you want a fulfilling life, look inward. Seek out what it is you truly want from your life, what brings you joy and make the absolute most of it every day.
This is why I don’t recommend doing self-congratulatory posts on social media (of course this was going to tie back to social!).
You may be proud of all that you’ve done, but never let your accomplishments or degrees make you feel as if you’re superior to anyone else in any way. You’re not. None of us are.
If all of the things that have happened in my life went differently, I would be a different person. And yes there are things that I would like to forget that happened to me (like being fired, being cheated on by my significant other etc) but they’ve made me a stronger, kinder and better person.
We often think the grass is greener on the other side. But the truth is, your grass is just as green as it needs to be.
When you stop giving yourself timelines to reach certain goals you become free.
You should buy all means check off the boxes that makes sense for you but don’t be upset if some go unchecked.
And just remember you are exactly where you’re supposed to be at this moment. And anything is achievable. Do you agree?
