Veterans Day is a day on which we honor and remember our veterans, and thank them for their service and their sacrifices to our country.

Initially meant to celebrate world peace and the end of World War I, Veterans Day is now a holiday honoring current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

If you haven’t done a social media post in honor of Veterans Day for your organization yet, you should.

It’s not only the right thing to do, but many of your clients and employees expect it.

In your post, thank the veterans and their families for their service, bravery, sacrifice and strength.

A simple “thank you for your service” is an appropriate message.

You can also personally thank a veteran you know, or express your gratitude for all of those who have served and encourage others to donate to veterans’ charities.

Use the hashtags #veteransday #veteran and #veterans to make sure your post is indexed and discoverable with other Veterans-Day related social posts.

You can easily create a Veterans Day social media post in Canva.com – search under “Veterans Day,” “Veterans” and “America” to find approrpriate imagery and inspiration.

Important days like this should be built into your annual social media and content strategy.

If you have veterans at your firm (alumni count too), ask them if they would be willing to be featured in a social media campaign highlighting their service.

It’s a great thing to do, and your social media feed should not be all about your news, successes and events, or what I call “me-centric” social posts.
