March is Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day is on March 8. It’s not too late to create a social media campaign to celebrate and honor the women at your company.
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, increasing visibility and raising awareness about gender inequality across the world.
Here are some ideas for social media campaigns to mark the day.
Ask your employees to recount why International Women’s Day is important to them.
As an individual, celebrate and thank the women in your life who have inspired you, helped you grow, supported you and mentored you.
Highlighting the successes of the women in your life and at your firm can create a wonderful social media campaign. It makes employees feel appreciated. Clients like to see those who work for them getting recognition.
Ask women to discuss a mentor or a woman who inspires them.
Other questions could include:
- Why did you choose your profession?
- What do you love most about what you do?
- Any advice to women who want to succeed in the workplace?
- What do you wish you could tell your younger self?
- What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?
- Which woman most inspires you and why?
- What do you think is the key for success in a role like yours?
Make the campaign inclusive of the past, present and future women at your firm. That means your alumni, current employees/lawyers and even your future employees (so recruits who are going to join your firm).
Law firms, please don’t just feature your lawyers in this kind of campaign – include your professional staff as well!
Use these women-related hashtags to amplify your posts remember to use no more than five total hashtags or LinkedIn will mark your post as spam. On Twitter, use no more than two or three hashtags. You can use up to 30 hashtags on Instagram.

We are stronger together. Let’s give women the opportunity to shine.
