I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t like to find more happiness in their daily lives.
Self care is so important, especially now. A wise friend of mine told me that sometimes happiness is a choice you need to make and that it won’t always come easy. We still need to try. Here are some ideas that I hope inspire you on adding more happiness to your life.
- Move your body: Exercise is good for your body and mind, period. Aim for 30 minutes of exercise each day.
- Build a strong network: From friends to coworkers, everyone you meet could become a client, a colleague or a referral.
- Learn to cook: You’ll eat better, feel accomplished and save money.
- Do something that scares you: Step out of your comfort zone, pushing your personal boundaries helps you grow.
- Live in the now: So many of us spend time worrying about the future and stressing about the past instead of living in the present.
- Learn the difference between true friends and fake friends: Then focus on the people who truly love you, and let the others fall aside.
- Accept your mistakes: You’re going to make a lot of mistakes throughout your life. And that’s okay. Do your best to learn from them.
- Take care of yourself: Eat healthy, sleep well and get exercise — it really does make a difference.
- Be humble and kind: Don’t knock others down to get to the top, what goes around does come around.
- Spend time with family: It’s so important to spend quality time with family members especially those who are elderly. Trust me on this one.
- Don’t compare your life to other people’s Instagram accounts: No one’s life is perfect, no matter how great a filter makes everything look.
- Expect change: Nothing in life is certain or constant. Do the best you can to keep your head up and face new challenges head-on.
- Work hard: Set yourself apart by always doing your best. Things won’t always work out as you hoped, but if you give it your best effort, you’ll feel good about yourself.
- Let go: Realize that there are many things that are outside of your control. What you can control is yourself – and your reactions to things.
- Talk less, listen more: A secret to building relationships is letting others speak first. This simple secret will help you more meaningfully connect with others.
- Pursue what you love: Whether it’s your career or your after-work hobby, make sure there are things in your life that you love. Carving out the time to do these things will make life more enjoyable.
- Love your body: Learn to look in the mirror and know that you are beautiful. Every “imperfection” is what makes you unique and interesting.
- Travel: Visiting other parts of the world offers you a chance to experience the lives of others and experience situations that teach you new things about yourself. Plus, there are so many beautiful places to see.
- Don’t compare yourself to others: Everyone is on different tracks through life and while you may sometimes envy the successes of others, your successes cannot be compared to anyone else’s.
- Appreciate your freedom: We have the freedom to be ourselves and to do what we love. Appreciate how lucky you are to live a life where you can choose your path every day.
