My social media posts haven’t been doing well lately, and I’m not entirely sure why. It’s been quite discouraging, since this is what I do for a living!

I don’t know if it’s the algorithm, the fact that I don’t use sponsored posts, how I use hashtags, my subject matter, the time of day when I am posting. Using an image or not using an image. Maybe I post too much.

But whatever it is we all go through periods when our posts just don’t seem to be resonating with others.

Here’s my advice when this happens to you – show up on social media even when you don’t want to. Have confidence with your posts but also be open to tweaking them.

Remember that a lot of people use social media and listen only or invisible user mode. So they may be seeing your posts, but not publicly commenting or liking them.

Social media success so much more than just the number of likes, comments or shares you receive.

Show up to help others.

Posting helpful content regularly is how you build your subject matter authority and personal brand. And it takes time and effort.

Don’t get discouraged if you’re not seeing results at first or like me, years into it.

Tweak your content strategy until you find what works, and even when you find what works, you may experience roadblocks. But keep at it. Keep creating good content. And most of all, keep being you.
