In this new video I discuss something you absolutely shouldn’t do on LinkedIn, which is liking your own posts.
It can make you look desperate and not technically savvy on the platform.
Don’t focus too much on the number of likes you have. Vanity metrics aren’t as important as engagement.
Also liking your own posts and status updates won’t increase engagement with the post. You really can’t game the system or algorithm no matter how much you try to.
Singing the praises of your own posts is unnecessary; obviously you “like” what you posted or else you wouldn’t have posted it in the first place.
When you like your own posts you may feel temporarily good about yourself. Seeing that extra like on your post may increase endorphins and help you feel more relevant. Don’t rely on this feeling. It’s not meaningful and it’s not strategic. You want organic reach and engagement on your posts.
That being said it’s a personal choice to like your posts as much as you need to so do what makes you comfortable.
